Feeling nostalgic for two months ago

Summer is almost over and I don't wanna let go! It was a good one.

We sweated through three hours of brooklyn and queens by bike on one of the hottest days of the summer, to get to an art party at a marina in Far Rockaway that Olivia was hosting. The reward: cold Bud and a dip in the grimy sound, surrounded by sex dolls bobbing in the water around us (art!).

Emi was born! Congratulations Carl & Ros, she's lovely. And at less than two weeks old, so tiny.

I spent 5 days on Fire Island, with Jens & Jenny and many of their friends. Activities consisted almost exclusively of laying on the beach, drinking beer, and eating giant group meals.

I hosted Otto at my house while Audrey was away in Paris reportaging the Tour de France.

While I was attending a Smashing Pumpkins concert with Adam at Terminal 5, some jerk tried to steal my bike. S/he was thwarted by my kryptonite chain, but my bike was rendered unrideable in the process. Matthew swooped in to find me an exact replacement--Maruishi Jr was shipped to me (aided by the kindness of Corvallis, OR resident Mike Cunningham) a couple weeks later!

Easter Feaster

Let's see...

Artichokes stuffed with breadcrumbs and sundried tomatoes
Pork chops
Asparagus
Israeli cous-cous with chickpeas, black olives and basil
Boiled/baked potatoes with olive oil, rosemary and smoked paprika
Vegan macadamia cupcakes with lemon icing
Oatmeal rasin nut cookies
Chocolate chip cookies
Chocolate "turtles"

Am I forgetting anything? I think our gluttony would have made Jesus proud.

Midtown potluck feast

Cara had the gang over for a potluck dinner at her house last night. It felt opulent in a way, something about being seated around a proper dining table (with placemats and a tablecloth!) that fits so many people—very civilized!

A lot of the usual suspects were on hand:

Plus some fresh blood!

Pot Luck at Sang's

Sang had a green pot luck (it was a couple of weeks ago - bad blogger!). It gave me an opportunity to get a picture of the apron in action. It's still a little stiff, hopefully as he uses it, it'll soften up.

And as the name promises, all the attendees brought green food. There were lots and lots of veggies of course, but April and I went for carbs and brought spinach linguine with pesto.

Mmmmmm, right?
Hung Yul and some friends of his (and possibly yours?) were playing some kind of poker that necessitated looking ridiculous. Evidence below.

Anyway, the girl pictured said that she knew you from Hunter, but I've forgotten her name.
And last but not least, last night's sunset!

After four days of cloud cover and rain (some of it torrential enough to flood parts of Jersey), it's finally sunny and beautiful. It started clearing up yesterday, resulting in last night's sunset. And it's supposed to go up to 70 on Monday! Yay spring!!
