Pop Rally at Moma

Last night we went to a hyperarty "happening" at Moma. Lots of hipsters, free drinks, and Cat Power! Sober! She was super coherent, but sang a short set - possibly because there were a *lot* of people talking. But she didn't throw a tantrum or anything! Instead, she came out and sang a completely charming a capella encore, mostly to Doug Aitken (whom the whole shebang was ostensibly about), but with a few shy smiles at the audience - unheard of! Then it was free posters for all and home to bed (for me at least).

Not to say sobriety isn't better than alcoholism in the grand scheme of things, but she was much more engaging on stage back when she was a raging drunkard. That said, it was still an awesome evening cause even at her worst Chan Marshall still has a heart breakingly beautiful voice and delivery. And the opening act was a drummer accompanying these two middle aged suburban auctioneers, and they were doing this wild simultaneous auction-speak duet of sorts, it was kinda mind boggling and cool.

Sorry I missed it, but that apartment inside 70 Washington was pretty insane.

if by "engaging" you mean "painfully flubbing every song, bursting into tears and fleeing the stage," then yeah!

And why do everyone's drinks look radioactive?

By the way, did you notice the awesome bangle Tara's got on in that pic? Too bad my zebra-print salad servers aren't wearable...
