As promised:
>>>video deleted<<<
(I had to, in deference to those of you in third world countries with slow page loading times, as well as those of you right here in the LES who won't cough up the money for broadband)
If I'm not mistaken, I think that's Sammy K singing along towards the end!

Webster Hall
In high school, I totally remember Webster Hall being this scandalously corny club where even the lamest of people would never dream of going, that they practically wouldn't let you in unless you could prove you were on a bachelor party outing from New Jersey. I think they used to have "ladies drink free on Thursday nights" posted up on their marquee awning.
Well, I avoided that place for the first 30 years of my life, but somehow, in a spectacular fall from grace I've managed to patronize Webster Hall TWICE in the past month. Although, in my defense, they've started booking rock shows and having hipster-ish open bar events there--now ladies and gents drink free!
So on May 8th, Blonde Redhead played there--they're touring to promote the release of their new album called 23. It was a truly great show--they played a bunch of new songs of course, and then one or two off of "Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons" and "An Expression of the Inexpressible", and they played three encores!! Awesome night.
Ok and then the other visit to Webster Hall involved free beer and dancing and girls with white body paint holding twigs and moving slow-motion through the crowd--I don't get it either but here's what it looked like:
Once I figure out how to upload video I will add a great clip of Sameer and Audrey shaking a leg on the dance floor, stay tuned.

Julia's Birthday Part One
I know, I'm a little behind the times, but I figure it's never too late to post some great pictures. About forty of Julia's closest friends showed up to help her celebrate the big 3-0. Hard to believe, right? But no worries, she still looks about 12. See?
It's like a pan-Asian convention in here.
I didn't even realize it until later, but I managed to capture the elusive Miss Shipra on film!!
Even Mattias showed up...not at all drunk. Don't ask me what Sang is doing, because I really don't know. Julia looks cute though!
Elliott's kissy face and Tara's big smile!!
Roy and Julia increase their rapport by mirroring each other .
Again, don't ask me about Sang...
You know what they say, it's not a party until someone (hopefully the mother of a small child) fashions a penis out of tin foil! Well, it makes Eric happy.
Getting later, drunker.
There's still more to come, but in a completely unrelated topic, James and Philip got themselves in Gothamist (and the online version of Pravda, of all places) for participating in Transportation Alternatives' annual commuter race. James was the car guy and Phillip was the subway guy. Both of them were beat by a nurse practioner named Luci on her bike!! Check out the link, there's a picture of Phillip and James looking sheepish (James look sheepish, Phillip just looks like Phillip), with Luci of course.

Certified Open Water Diver!
Hey gals,
So I'm back on Pemba now. And it's actually not as bad as I thought it'd be (besides the lack of power). I've been surprisingly chipper since I've been back, and just completed a diving course so now I'm a PADI certified Open Water diver!!
The diving is pretty amazing. It's just unbelievable being down there -- really like being on the moon. The diversity of life is incredible, and it's much less scary than I thought. Rather than being scared of sharks and such, the most dangerous thing seems to be yourself!! You can get decompression sickness or any variety of ailments from doing the wrong thing. It's serious stuff, but also amazing, and being such a fraidy-cat my whole life of the water, I've been surprisingly un-scared!
Anyway here are some pics as proof: my first Open Water dive yesterday.
